Tide Men Win 3 at Mizzu

The Alabama men had their final tournament of the first semester this weekend, at the University of Missouri. The men played two games on Friday and two games on Saturday. This was another challenging weekend of college basketball.
In the first game of the weekend, Alabama played Edinboro. Alabama’s offense took a little while to get going, and Edinboro was able to make a couple small runs; however, Alabama’s defensive pressure proved too much to overcome. The Tide won with a final score of 55-39.
The second game on Friday was a prime time matchup against the home team Mizzou. This game presented Alabama with the challenge of guarding a couple knock down shooters playing in their home gym. Alabama showed early that they were up to the task. The boys came out with a lot of energy and were able to keep Missouri’s offense in check to get the big win. Final score, Alabama 53, Missouri 44.
The opening game on Saturday was against a dangerous Whitewater team. The game started out fast and both teams were off and running early. Whitewater made a run to end the first half, and Alabama entered the second half trailing by 11. However, Alabama never gave up and came storming back to tie the game. Both teams were playing through foul trouble, but Whitewater was able to make the last run of the game, and knock down free throws down the stretch. The final was Alabama 68, Whitewater 82.
The final game of the weekend was against a much improved Southwest Minnesota State team. The Tide came out slow; the strain of the weekend and a tough previous game were showing. The men found themselves in a dog fight. Finally, late in the second half, behind some timely stops and made free throws, Alabama slowly separated themselves. The score was Alabama 76, SMSU 67.
This was the final tournament of the Fall semester. The Crimson Tide continues to improve each and everyday. Some great basketball played so far and a lot of things to improve upon in the second semester. The Tide has only scratched the surface of their ultimate potential. Alabama’s record at the end of semester one is 11-2. The men will enter the second semester hungry and with something to prove. Roll Tide!
