Tide Men Sweep at Shepherd

This weekend the Alabama men traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to play in the Shepherd Shootout. These were the first games of the 2017-2018 season for Alabama. Alabama has been practicing hard and waiting for their chance to show what they’ve got. Alabama played three division one teams this weekend; each team Alabama played had a wealth of experience and each presented their own challenges.
The men opened up with a game against Charlottesville on Friday night. In the first half Alabama was getting out some early season nerves; however, in the third quarter Alabama really turned up the heat and started to pull away. The Tide ended with a 67-48 victory. This game was a great opportunity to run through some different lineups and get everyone in the rotation.
In game two on Saturday morning, the men had a tough game against the home team, Shepherd. Shepherd is a team of veterans, that have been playing together for a long time. Last year Shepherd edged out Bama by four, and Alabama didn’t forget. This game was a battle throughout the contest. Alabama’s defense proved to be too much for Shepherd as Alabama won 48-41.
The final game featured the Crimson Tide against Miami. From the opening tip, the Tide played with an incredible intensity on both ends of the court. Alabama was able to really work the ball up the court in transition. The men shot extremely well, while their defense didn’t give up anything easy. The Tide cruised to an 82-37 victory.
This weekend was a great start to the season. The Bama men are never satisfied and are always striving to get better. The men will get back to work as they have their first college games next weekend in Texas. Great opening weekend and Roll Tide!
