TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama men’s wheelchair basketball team returned from Whitewater, Wis. with an overall 6-3 record. The men beat University of Illinois, SW Missouri State University and Edinboro University and lost to University of Wisconsin at Whitewater during the weekend-long tournament in Whitewater. Bouncing back from a 61 to 45 loss to UWW, Alabama defeated Illinois by 20 points. Saturday ended with a 68 to 49 victory over SMSU and a 50 to 35 victory over Edinboro. Freshman, Michael Auprince, led the team with a total of 81 points and 27 rebounds. The team hopes to keep moving forward with their progress on weights and cardio training during the holiday season before they begin 3-a-day practice starting January 7. The first tournament of the winter season is January 15-16 in Illinois. The team will play University of Illinois, SW Missouri St University and Edinboro once again and will also play Missouri. The team will participate in three more tournaments before participating in the national tournament on March 9, in Edinboro, PA. Roll Tide!
