Tuscaloosa Tennis Community Comes Together for the Spring Swing

The University of Alabama Wheelchair Tennis team hosted the annual Tuscaloosa Spring Swing tennis tournament. The wheelchair tennis team hosts this tournament every year as a fundraiser which allows them to get uniforms, travel to tournaments, and continue to compete as the pinnacle of collegiate wheelchair tennis. The fundraiser is only possible with the support of Center Court Tuscaloosa who provides their facilities, our wonderful sponsors who provide help and support, and the Tuscaloosa community as a whole who participate, volunteer, and give more of themselves than we could ever ask of them. The Tuscaloosa Spring Swing has grown from 79 participants in 2018 to an outstanding 114 participants this year in 2019. This includes all able bodied divisions as well as an Up/Down division in which a wheelchair tennis player is partnered with an able bodied player. With the help of the Tuscaloosa community, the Alabama Wheelchair Tennis team raised $6,748. This has been the most successful fundraiser for the team to date. Alabama Wheelchair Tennis heads to nationals on April 24 knowing that it is not just a team of 6 players with coaches and staff, but that they are competing for a championship for Tuscaloosa and it’s incredible community.
