The Tide traveled to Montreal, Quebec for their biggest International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament of the Fall Season. Shelby Baron had her best career run at an ITF Level 2 until she was stopped by the world ranked #9 Lucy Shuker in the semi-finals. Quebec native Maude Jacques made the quarterfinals but was also stopped short by the tournament #1 seeded Shuker. “It was cool playing in my home town and having family see me play for the first time and support the team. Plus the tournament had great competition.” said Jacques. In the bottom of the singles draw, Lauren Hopps lost in the round of 16 but went on to win 2 matches earning the consolation finals victory!
Jacques and Hopps were each stopped in the doubles semi finals losing to the #1 and #2 seeds. Baron and her partner Emmy Kaiser made it to the doubles final but were forced to withdraw due to a medical injury.
The Tide will return to the courts Dec 7th-12th at the Mazatlan Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in Mazatlan, MEX. Roll Tide!
