Bama Men Improving at the Right Time

Champaign, Ill – This weekend the boys had four tough games at the University of Illinois. They opened up the weekend with a matchup against the University of Edinboro. The boys came out a little sluggish against the much improved Edinboro team. However, they hit their stride and ended up pulling away late. The score was Alabama 48, Edinboro 37.The second game featured a game against the University of Missouri, a team who edged us out earlier in the semester. The boys came out with incredible defensive intensity. They held a hot Missouri team to 7 points as a team in the first half. They ended the game with a huge win, 40-27.
The Bama men started Saturday with a tough matchup against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The game was very physical. Again, the boys came out with a fire on the defensive end. In the end, UWW had a few more shots go their way and made free throws down the stretch. The final score was 47-52. The final game of the weekend was against the home team, Illinois. The home crowd was loud, and the energy in the gym was fantastic. Both teams played with great grit. Alabama did a great job withstanding some hot shooting from the Illini, the two teams were going shot for shot. In the end, Alabama came up three short, 55-58. This weekend helped the men realize that they can can play with anyone in the country. Bama played their best defensive basketball of the season this weekend. They continue to improve and are starting to hit their stride at the right time of the year.  The Alabama are now 9-9 on the season and 5-7 in conference.  The men will return to Tuscaloosa for a short week; they are hungry and will be ready for their home tournament next weekend.
