Women’s Basketball



Columbia, MO – The Alabama Women won their 4th National Championship today with a 58-52 victory over the University of Illinois.  With the win Alabama finished the year undefeated against women’s teams, 26-3 overall, and 14-0 in conference. Roll Tide!


Tuscaloosa, AL - The Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Teams is back at home after a great road trip to UTA. The Alabama Women are now 23-3 on the year and 11-0 in conference.   The team is looking forward to our return home on February 28 for the ABC Medical Classic.  On Saturday The Women play at 5 at Foster Auditorium. Tickets are $5 each for Foster – Children under 12 and Students are Free. Start planning now to come out and support your Crimson Tide!


Cobi Back

Whitewater, WI – The Alabama Women won all three games at the Whitewater tournament this weekend, improving their overall record to 9-1 and their conference record to 5-0. In the first game of the tournament the Tide jumped out to an early 26 point lead and cruised to a 63-50 win over a talented young UTA team. Later in the day a hot shooting Alabama team led by 41-28 at the half and beat the University of Illinois 78-55. In their final game of the tournament the Alabama women beat the host Whitewater Warhawks 70-28.  The Alabama Women are back in action on December 5-6 at home against the Quebec Provincial Team and the Lakeshore Storm.  Come out and support Alabama!  Roll Tide!


141028_Wheelchair_BasketballTuscaloosa, AL – Congratulations to the Alabama Women’s Wheelchair basketball team who won both their games at home this weekend. In their first game the Tide avenged their only loss of the season with a 74-50 win over Ryan Hynes, Jeremy Campbell and the Lakeshore Storm. In the final game of the tournament the Tide jumped out to a 48-12 lead by half-time and cruised by Auburn for a final score of 68-28. The Alabama Women are now 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference. The Tide are next in action on November 21 at Whitewater against UTA, Illinois and Whitewater.


KarolinaLingyteArlington, TX – The Crimson Tide swept 3 games in their first conference road trip of the season at the University of Texas-Arlington.  The Crimson Tide defeated a solid young squad from UTA in the first two games of the tournament by the scores of 56-38 and 59-42.  The Crimson Tide led by as many as 20 points both games and the entire roster contributed with eight players logging over 20 minutes each and four players posting double figures in both games.  In the final game of the tournament the Tide cruised by Dallas 51-35.  The Alabama Women are back at home this weekend at the Recreation Center on Saturday, November 8th with Lakeshore at 1PM and Auburn at 5PM.  Come out and support the Alabama Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team!  Roll Tide!


Cyn6Birmingham, AL – The Alabama Women split their first two games of the year against the Lakeshore Men’s Teams.  In the opening game against the Lakeshore second squad the Tide cruised to a 67-17 victory.  Alabama placed 4 players in double figures scoring with Laurie Williams dropping in 12 points followed by Caitlin McDermott, Mackenzie Soldan and Savannah Gardner with 10 each.  Elissa Robinson harassed the Lakeshore team the entire game with back picks and cross picks in transition.  In the second game the Crimson Tide matched up against the powerful Lakeshore Championship Division team that features former Alabama Star Ryan Hynes and former USA Men’s National Team player Jeremy Campbell.  In a game that featured many back and forth scoring changes, Lakeshore prevailed at the end on a last second shot by Jeremy Campbell to ice it for Lakeshore 54-52.  The Alabama Women were lead in scoring by Karolina Lingyte, Cindy Ouellet, and Cobi Crispin.  The Bama backcourt of Laurie Williams, Mackenzie Soldan, Maude Jacques, Elissa Robinson and Caitlin McDermott  all played double digit minutes in both games.  The Alabama Women open conference play on October 31 on the road in Arlington Texas against UT Arlington.  Stay tuned on facebook and twitter for game updates and webcasting information.  Roll Tide!
