SPRING ROLL TIDE REGATTA MARCH 15
Tuscaloosa, AL - The Alabama Rowing team has their first Regatta on March 15 at the Alabama Boathouse. Practice on Friday afternoon and Regatta on Saturday from 8-2. Follow the following directions to the boathouse: Coming from the Tuscaloosa (University of Alabama) side of the river:-Take Lurleen Wallace to Rice Mine Road (Co Rd 30).-Stay in the right lane and take the first exit ramp right onto Rice Mine off the bridge. -Turn right onto Bridge Avenue (heading towards Dreamland BBQ & Wintzell’s) -Turn left onto 3rd street and follow that road (behind Collins-Riverside Middle School) all the way to the end of the road. -You will end up at the gate in the dead end of 3rd street -Our boathouse is the one on your left as you face the river. Boston, MA – Alabama Para-Rowing shared the Medstar NRH/Alabama boat with Dan Ahr last weekend at the 49th Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA. Led by Dan’s excellent steering, the pair battled a strong headwind to finish the 4800meter race in in 39:22.17. Dan and Margaret are Arm/Shoulder (AS) rowers but competed against Trunk/Arm (TA) rowers. At the Head of the Anacostia in Washington, DC September 28, Dan and Margaret rowed 4000meters in 44 minutes; they were very pleased with the faster results on a longer, windier course. Margaret is looking forward to racing at the Head of the Hooch November 2.

The University of Alabama Para-Rowing Team will Compete in the following Fall Events:

BAMA HEADS TO JERSEY QUALIFIER
West Windsor, NJ. The Alabama Para-Rowing team competed qualifying in the Para-Rowing US Trials on July 7-9. Congratulations to Dr. Margaret Stran for making history again for Adapted Athletics. Margaret’s rowed to second place finish in the arms-shoulders heat and missed qualifying for the World Championships by a little over 20 seconds. It was a great first season for our Para-Rowing at Alabama and we are looking forward to the next event – the Head of the Hooch this fall in Chattanooga Tenn. BAMA ROWS AT THE HOOCH
Chattanooga, TN - Alabama Rowing competed in their first Regatta on November 4th in Chattanooga, TN at the Head of the Hooch. Margaret Stran took 2nd place in her classification in the first ever rowing competition for Alabama Adapted Rowing.
